There are several ways to support the children in our Ethiopian and Kenyan projects:
1. Child sponsorship – 20 euros per month.
If you are interested in child sponsorship, go to page: Sponsor a child
.
2. Help pay the salary of a staff person for 60 euro per month – a teacher, a child care giver etc. This is a very important need as without these people, the project can not continue. Staff people are usually local people who receive a very modest income which they need to feed and clothe their own family. By helping to pay their salary, you ensure that children’s needs in the project are met and that the staff person is also able to care for their own children.
3. One time gifts – not all interested people are able to give monthly. All donations are welcome, whether regular or one-time. All donations go to help with needs in the projects. If your gift is undesignated, it will be used for the greatest need at the moment in providing the children’s needs.
4. Special projects - from time to time, Malaika will organize special projects to help with a particular urgent need. Indication of the special project will be highlighted in the newsletter and web site. Some projects to date have been: to help with food needs following the election violence in Kenya, to buy a piece of land to give Children’s Garden a permanent home.
5. Prayer – we regard prayer as an important part of our support for the children. If this is something you feel called to, please pray for children in the projects.

Praying for the children
We suggest that you choose a photo of a child from the web site and pray for that child, if you are not sponsoring a child.
Possible prayer ideas:
- For the children’s health and safety (girls, especially are vulnerable to abuse and misuse, when they are out in their communities).
- For the healing from trauma and loss that many of them have suffered in their childhood.
- For the ability to do well in school and to be able to get training so that they can support themselves as adults.
- For good values, habits and decisions. Many of the children did not have parents or lived on the streets. These children need to break with past unhealthy habits, such as drugs, alcohol and theft, which they used to dull the pain of hunger and loss in their past life.
